kcal analysis

For reasons I fully understand, some organisations have addressed the problem of counting kcal (Calories) by introducing a far more easily understood points system.

Essentially they have compiled a database of products, including meals, with a broad range of appeal. They have in turn completed the laborious task of counting kcal, related to those products or meals. That data then converted to points. Far less numbers for you to deal with.

Instead of people being told their kcal threshold, they are given a daily or weekly points threshold. It is then a simple matter for people to select meals or products which quickly and easily add up to the points threshold. The mathematics involved being quick (important) and straightforward (also important). That said, I prefer my own food. I know what is (and is not) in it.

I also have another problem with this approach. People are not encouraged to make a meaningful study of raw data on produce food labels. As a result people cannot learn from the process in a permanently useful way. They never will.

I know most people are more than capable of understanding the data. The principle is very simple but the process (counting) has always been excrutiatingly boring. Now it is not.

The kcal-watch principle has resolved the latter problem. Once set up, it is stunningly straightforward and quick. It also opens up the complete market of produce that is available from any source, including produce with points, as they are also marked with kcal data. What you eat your business.

As I have said previously, most of the knowledge required quickly becomes innate. Essentially it is like developing skill and expertise in a sport, hobby or craft. Most of the tasks involved become instinctive and subconscious. It will become your new trade skill.

The only ongoing commitment to the kcal-watch principle is the highly recommended night and morning body weight check, using an electronic scale. The result of this check will subconsciously influence subsequent behaviour, in a positive way. I love it.
